Mustang Round-Up: Thursday, August 6
Sachse High School hosts its annual “Mustang Round-Up” back-to-school night on Thursday, August 6, with doors opening at 7:30 AM. The event gives students and parents a chance to walk schedules, locate classrooms, meet teachers, and handle any last-minute registration business before the crowd of opening day.
If you have a freshman or a student new to the building, arriving closer to 7:30 is worth it. Hallways get noticeably busier as the morning goes on, and navigating the campus for the first time is easier when traffic is lighter.
Texas Sales Tax Holiday: August 7–9
The timing works in shoppers’ favor this year. The Texas annual back-to-school Sales Tax Holiday runs Friday through Sunday, August 7–9, covering shoes, school supplies, and a range of other qualifying items. Sachse-area retailers participate automatically — no special coupon or registration required at the register.
The exemptions apply to most clothing and footwear priced under $100 per item, as well as school supplies meeting state guidelines. If a student still needs a backpack, binders, or new sneakers before Mustang Round-Up on the 6th, the math is simple: wait two days and skip the tax.

New for 2026–27: Student ID Badges Are Required
